Applications for the 2021-22 CoastAbility Scholarships for young people on the Central Coast with a physical disability have been extended to Monday, 31 May, 2021.
Scholarships on offer include an academic scholarship and sporting scholarship, each providing funding to the value of up to $5000 for successful applicants.
To meet the criteria for these scholarships applicants will need to be a Central Coast resident with a physical disability or multiple disabilities as well as a CoastAbility client or eligible for membership, which is free.
Liesl Tesch MP, Member for Gosford is encouraging all of us to share this opportunity and for community members to apply.
“I am a firm believer in you never know if you never try and I really encourage those who meet the criteria to apply.”
“This is a fantastic opportunity to receive funding support to achieve your dreams, whether it be in academics or in sport.”
Academic Scholarship applicants will need to be currently enrolled in an accredited course of study at a tertiary institution while Sporting Scholarship applicants will need to demonstrate outstanding sporting achievements or potential to compete at a high level.
Ms Tesch says she knows of many worthy recipients for these scholarships.
“2020 recipients Rae Anderson and Tahlia Blanshard are both thriving academically and financially supported thanks to CoastAbility”
“The Central Coast is blooming with academic and sporting potential and I know many people who should be applying for this.”
“I am passionate about both these areas, competing in the Paralympics and being a high school teacher and I have seen the difference funding like this can make.”
“Initiatives like this really do have the potential to pave your future career, whatever that may be, and I am excited to see our community benefit from this.”
