Statewide program left out of budget
According to an email from the Hunter Central Coast, Biodiversity and Conservation Division of the NSW DPIE (now DCCEEW, see below) the Statewide Community Engagement Program did not receive ongoing funding in the September 2023 state budget.
As a result the HCC Biodiversity and Conservation Division will no longer be able to support its regular newsletter, one of the engagement activities that has not received funding.
“You can however still discover stories about partnerships, community science, new technologies, environmental water, field based conservation and more at the environment newsroom, at our science and research news and science and research publications sites and the Biodiversity and Conservation Trust news page,” a final email told subscribers.
“You can also connect with us by subscribing to any of our e-newsletters, such as Saving our Species or NPWS Naturescapes.
There was enough money in the NSW budget to put the “cluster” through a renaming and reorganization.
The Biodiversity and Conservation Division is now part of the newly formed Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) NSW, launched on January 1st 2024.
“Our work here at the Hunter Central Coast regional branch level remains the same,” the email said.
Will that be DQ for short?
