Big corporate names including Schneider Electric, Cisco, Microsoft, Data#3, Moxie Insights, and NTT have joined forces to establish a Sustainability Tech Council in Australia.

Schneider Electric media release

Schneider Electric has announced the formation of the Council described itself as a founding member and said it was “An Australian-first to expedite progress towards net zero through cross-industry collaboration”.

According to the Schneider Electric media release, the launch focus areas included green data centres, energy-efficient tech, e-waste management, and supply chain sustainability.

Schneider Electric’s decision to join was described as “part of its commitment to advancing its own sustainability agenda and to support Australian organisations in achieving their sustainability goals.

“The Sustainability Tech Council is a first-of-its-kind initiative that aims to leverage a collective commitment on the issue of addressing climate change to set a new sustainability agenda through joint industry action and innovative technology solutions.

“Through transparency, education, awareness, and standardisation, it aims to democratise access to sustainability information to government, enterprises and small to medium-sized businesses, regardless of their size or sector.

“The Council brings together leading companies and executives who share a commitment to addressing climate change, and other hand-selected launch members include Cisco, Microsoft, Data#3, Moxie Insights, and NTT.

“Schneider Electric is proud to be a founding member of the Sustainability Tech Council and to hold itself accountable to sustainability targets, as well as sharing its knowledge and insights to support others,” said Joe Craparotta, Vice President IT Business at Schneider Electric.

“We understand the challenges that organisations face when it comes to sustainability and view the Council as a significant step forward in impacting progress by making sustainability more accessible.

“I’d personally like to acknowledge the foundation members and their commitment to our industry and the sustainability imperative, also to the Schneider team that has been activating our membership.

“Schneider’s purpose is to empower all to make the most of our energy and resources, bridging progress and sustainability for all. We call this Life Is On. Our mission is to be your digital partner for Sustainability and Efficiency.

“We drive digital transformation by integrating world-leading process and energy technologies, end-point to cloud connecting products, controls, software and services, across the entire lifecycle, enabling integrated company management, for homes, buildings, data centres, infrastructure and industries.

“We are the most local of global companies. We are advocates of open standards and partnership ecosystems that are passionate about our shared Meaningful Purpose, Inclusive and Empowered values.”
