Gosford Kariong Storm Rugby League Football Club is the recipient of $5,056.20 worth of grant funding as part of the NSW Government’s $4.4 million Local Sport Grant Program.
The program provides up to $20,000 to individual clubs and associations, with $50,000 available in each electorate, to increase participation in community sport, host events, improve access and enhance sport and recreation facilities, with 579 projects awarded funding in this year’s program.
Five projects were awarded funding in the Gosford electorate for new equipment, programs and facilities valued at $37,531.30.
“Sport is a way of life in the Central Coast community,” said Member for Gosford, Liesl Tesch MP.
“This vital funding for grassroots sport will help our local clubs and their army of volunteers to provide more opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the benefits of sport and active recreation.
“With the critical role sport plays in keeping people healthy, active and socially connected, this funding is vital to community health, wellbeing and sense of identity.
“I congratulate the Kariong Storm and look forward to the amazing projects they will deliver.”
Gosford Kariong Rugby League Football Club secretary, Dayle Martin, said the grant funding for the club provided valuable support that would benefit all its members.
“We would like to thank Liesl Tesch and all involved for providing our club with this grant money.
“This money means so much to our small family-friendly club. It allows us to purchase items to provide all our players with better equipment for training sessions, and a VEO Camera to film games (for game reflection and growth), things that would take our little club years to purchase if we didn’t get this wonderful support.
“We are so grateful for this opportunity and to be able to improve our club equipment for the benefit of all our members.”
