#Embrace equity this IWD

By Jacquelene Pearson

International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of all women, according to the IWD website. “The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality,” the site says.

The first IWD was held in 1011 and was supported by over one million people. The 2023 theme is #Embrace Equity.

There are breakfasts, lunches, dinners, markets, expos and parties going on everywhere. Here’s a bit of a snapshot of what is happening on the Central Coast, in the virtual universe and around the world. Enjoy!

Striking the pose

If you are unable to attend an event, Ms Tesch encourages community members to post a photo with #EmbraceEquity to show solidarity for this year’s International Women’s Day theme – embrace equity.

“This is the perfect opportunity to celebrate women, form new connections and discuss what embracing equity means to you.” said Ms Tesch.
