The two Illawarra grandfathers sailing in a small kayak from Wollongong to Newcastle to raise awareness of the need to stop burning fossil fuels will arrive on the Central Coast on Friday, 17 November.

Dr Simon Leslie and Mr Tom Hunt are expected to arrive at the Terrigal Haven Boat Ramp at around 12noon on Friday.

Richard Weller of Climate Future said organisers are hoping for supporters to give them a warm welcome to the Coast where they will be spending the weekend.

“If you care about the climate crisis, this is a great opportunity to find out why Simon and Tom have taken to the sea in a tiny vessel with NO MORE FOSSIL FUEL emblazened on the sail of their tiny ocean kayak,” Mr Weller said.

“These men are both retired and in their 70s and look at what they are doing to raise awareness of this massive issue,” he said.
